|Message:||Mickey either helped many songwriters or was an ispiration to others especially in the early years. He helped bring Townes Van Zandt to Nashville and Kristofferson credits Mickey for helping him become the artist he was trying to be.
Mike Reid was a defensive player for the Cincinatti Bengals and credits Mickey as the reason he became a songwriter.
If you go to Rodney Crowell's web site, he also mentions him as an inspiration.
He helped launch Kenny Roger's career by writing "I Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In".
At one time or another, he influenceed Dylan, Joan Baez, Buffy St. Marie, and others.
He said many times that Nashville from the mid 60's to mid 70's was much like Paris in it's creative freedom.
If you're new, welcome.
