Will never erase my love for you…’

I’ve been very lucky to experience a love similar to that described by Mickey. I’ve spent most of my working life ‘on the road’: I worked for more than twenty years as a technical salesman in the construction industry, mostly selling various forms of structural concrete. After a serious episode of depressive illness I retrained as a computer engineer, again travelling from place to place, now fixing computers, printers etc. Unfortunately, cancer and its aftermath have shot another hole in my CV: I’m still hoping I’ll get back to work. Throughout all this, for 35 years, Gwyneth has helped, encouraged, supported and loved me as I have her.

Everyone’s experience of love is different: that is perhaps part of its power. What moments might you pick as exemplifying the power of love? I remember regaining consciousness after a near-fatal road traffic accident: I’d lost my memory: my head was held together by 43 stitches; despite being advised to prepare for the worst, Gwyneth was there and continued to be there throughout my recovery.

Mickey and Jack have written a very emotive song that speaks to all married couples, encouraging us to recall the moments bound by that band of gold. What memories does the song stir in you?

‘…I'll follow the stars how long is forever
Where are the dreams carefully gathered…’
