|Message:||Thanks for all the positive thoughts and messages from the porch!
It's now six weeks since I had the radical surgery to remove the tumour in my bowel (a large section of bowel and many lymph nodes were removed at the same time). I have done remarkably well physically: I am still experiencing periods of great tiredness and I am occasionally emotionally overwhelmed: all part of this too-near-death experience.
Tomorrow I am meeting my oncologist and specialist nurses to complete my consent for the chemotherapy: I start taking tablets - Capecitabine - on Tuesday April 28. I will take tablets twice daily for two weeks then have a weeks rest and recovery (the chemo is quite likely to cause various, and possibly quite uncomfortable side-effects). I will repeat the two-weeks-on, one-week-off routine 8 or 9 times. The chemo wont finish until October 2015.
I'll give another update when I've started taking the tablets and have more direct experience of how the process affects me.
Once again, thanks to the porchers.
