As Crosby and Nash attended the 1989 Bread & Roses festival, perhaps they joked with Mick over what might have been. Years ago, “Mickey was asked to be their final member,” Susan Newbury explained. “It turned out to be Neil Young. It didn’t mean one was more important than the other. Mick just knew where he was going was a different place.” Or perhaps the proposed name “Crosby, Stills, Nash and Newbury” contained too many syllables.
