Message:  Mark, even if you could tell him how much he, and his works, mean to you, I doubt he would let you stay on the subject, for long. Now I'm going to use a word in a loving way. Mickey Newbury was an IGNORANT MAN when it came to knowing just how great he was. I'm sure he knew he was good, but, he was not a person that would brag on himself. Great example is Dave Franklin and Mickey playing golf together. I don't know how long it was before Dave knew that he was playing golf with one of the great writers of our time or any other time. Maybe, some day, we can get Dave to retell of his relationship with Mickey. Anyway, that's just my two cents .... oh.... forget that.... the grandkids rob me blind when they come over... just accept this as my own opinion.
