Subject:  Original Eterrnal life Station
Message:  In , according to the date below, it was in 2004, at the Gathering, that PaPa John asked me to write something to read at his church service that he did at the gathering each year. I was honored but scared. Well, for better or worse ( and it's been revised a million times) this is the original. At the top there are some notes that I put down when trying to come up with something. I'm sure there were many more.

I remember sitting there, sitting with Ron Lyons, scared to death to get up and read it. Not knowing how it would be received.

Time came and I had to do or die! I don't think I looked up once from reading it. I sat down and Ron paid me a compliment , so, I felt betterr. Later in the hall I passed Susie and she said , " I'm going to kill you " I said " Again? " ( Over time, I have gotten used to hearing things like that ) She then told me that it was because the poem made her cry.    When she told me that, it didn't matter if there were anyone else that liked it as long as Susie did.

Anyway, here it is and many have seen it, but for what it's worth....

Train Station

Waiting for loved ones and friends to arrive

Not here today expecting anyone just like to see happy faces.

Check tomorrows schedule and see one of my loved ones is arriving.
Check tomorrows schedule theres a tear in my eye.

She was so young makes me wonder why. People on earth, I know they will miss her. She’s my baby girl I can’t wait to kiss her.

Folks down below they don’t understand.
They’re leaving a life for one here that’s grand.
With limited knowledge and faith that is frailer.
How God’s holy plan is mighty detailed.

The engineer’s shining his big silver train.
Tracks made of gold
There’ll be sadness below this time tomorrow
Daughter will be here and she’ll have no more sorrow.

Not many people ride trains anymore but this one is special.

Describe people waiting. Lady over there is waiting for her brother that she hasn’t see for 15 years.

Person waiting for a parent that never seen or got to be rocked by or held.

Person waiting over there for someone that he has never met but was influenced by many years before his birth.

Eternal Life Station

The sun shines bright in Eternal Life Station
Loved ones all gathered in anticipation.
For the train to arrive as it does everyday.
Where truth is revealed about earth’s Passion Play.

Not too many ride trains anymore.
Gone with the past like the old candy store.
But this one is special, the ticket’s one way.
Once you arrive, here’s where you’ll stay.

There’s no more tears, there’s no more pain.
Everyone’s healthy, the dragon’s been slain.
Where serving the Lord is our greatest joy.
The plan he completed, can’t nothing destroy.

Here comes old Peter, he runs the station.
He post the arrivals that come from each nation.
Tomorrow’s new list he’ll put it up soon.
There’ll be many folks check it, by mid afternoon.

There’ll be no one I know arriving today.
I like hanging around the place anyway.
It’s fun watching people and their bright happy faces.
And the emotions displayed in their loving embraces.

There’s a man over there that waits for his sister.
Been ten years of more, Lord how he’s missed her.
That father there he waits for his son.
He used to be crippled now he can run.

Some wait for folks, that they’ve never met.
Touched by their writings that they can’t forget.

Betty there, or so I’ve been told.
Waits for a child she never did hold.
She died giving birth on a cold winter night.
What a sight to behold when those two unite.

You see, folks down below, they don’t understand.
They’re leaving a life for one here that’s grand.
With limited knowledge and faith that is frailer.
They don’t know God’s plan it’s mighty detailed.

Well, here comes the band, all decked out in white.
Excitement is starting, there’s a smoke stack in sight.
You can hear the conductor and his joyful screams.
“Next stop folks, the land of your dreams!”

Station master stands with the key to the city.
The pearly gate’s shining everything is so pretty.
“Back up folks, don’t get hit” is his cry.
Someone jokes “Up here... who’s going to die?”

The big engine roars as it comes to a rest.
There’s a huge load today, must say, I’m impressed.
The band starts to play, there are screams of delight.
As each finds their loved ones they hold on so tight.

The last person off gives me the most joy.
He walks up to Betty “Hi mom. I’m your boy.”
I stand, just smiling, knowing that someday I’ll see.
The one’s that I wait for arriving for me.

The stations now clearing the bands been dismissed.
Shouldn’t be long until tomorrow’s new list.
Others’ start to gather as they do they same.
Some I’ve not seen. Some I know by name.

“May I sit down here?” I told him “That’s fine.”
He said, “My name is Todd I came here, at nine”.
Thought I’d check the list, see if dad’s on his way.
I know it’s a long shot, thought I’d check anyway.

Here comes old Milton, his kid tagging along.
Still waiting on Mamie? Mick, how’s the new song?
Jogging on new legs and looking quite dandy.
Pam checks the new list, she’s looking for Andy.

I can’t name them all too many to mention.
It’s way beyond, anyone’s comprehension.
Just rest assured, there’s one thing that’s true.
If we’re up here, we’re waiting on you.
