||Suzette and I were at the hub of the town, WalMart, tonight. We usually separate and play an unintentional game of hide and seek. I found myself in the Electronics section looking at the cds. I have this thing about going through them and looking to see if any of Mickey's songs,by other artist, are on them. I do this alot when waiting to pay for my gas at a convenience store also. The one that caught my eye was The Elvis live at Hawaii. I think that was 1973 and I was in South Carolina with Suzette and her mother because I got drunk the week before and told dear old mumsie that I'd take her to visit her mother the next week in our new car. Longest drives of my life. One great reason to stop drinking. Anyway I remember telling Suzettes family that I had met this Newbury fellow that put this song together. Sure felt a lot of pride in that.
I remember us being at Mamie's house and Mickey being home when this song was getting a lot of air play. There were a bunch of people there. I asked Mickey to sing American Trilogy and he said "Larry, I'm sick of that song." Gues he had to sing it one too many times. He didn't sing it.
