Message: | Mrs. Mamie, and Mrs. Susan Newbury; I am writing you to say how much I enjoyed, and still do, love to play Mickey`s songs and sing along with him, but I could never whistle like he does. I have to say that Mickey has been my favorite singer for over 30 years. His songs are so deep, yet so simple that it just blows my mind. For example, "the sun falls to the ground without a sound." I and 3 others were at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco one time when Mickey was opening for another lady artist. The applause was still going on when she appeared. She said that it was plain to see that she was not the artist that we wanted to see. She sang 3 or 4 songs and left as we were calling Mickey, Mickey when she finished her songs. I have seen Mickey at The Great American Music Hall and Sweetwater in the San Francisco bay area and he always got a standing ovation as we did not want the night to end. I have friends that say to me that they heard Mickey on the radio and really like his singing. As that is all they hear when they ride with me or at my house. We miss you, Mickey. Wes |
