The neurologist still hasn't come through to see Dad yet. The hospitalist says Dad definitely has pneumonia and might have had a TIA-that's a transient ischemic attack, which has the symptoms of a stroke and can be a warning sign that you might be likely to have a stroke. Unfortunately, Dad can't take blood thinners because of serious stomach issues, and blood thinners are a typical treatment for preventing TIAs. There's another kind of med they might be able to give him if they think it's likely he had a TIA. He was going to have surgery on a herniated disc in his neck which is pressing on his spinal cord, and causing neck and arm pain. His surgery will have to be put off for at least a couple weeks after he recovers from the pneumonia. His arm is causing him a lot of pain.
Please keep praying, if you would. |
