I used to poke my nose around here a bit back before we lost Mickey. A lot has changed in my life since then.
Eleven months ago my wife and I lost our house in a fire. We lost everything except each other and our dog. If anyone has gone through this, believe me, I know how painful it can be.
But we were determined not to be crushed by this.
Sure we still grieve for the irreplacable things, (think Prine's "Souvenirs"), but it really, REALLY put things into perspective. What's important and what's b.s.
So after living in a shelter for two months until we got some insurance money, we both quit our jobs, used part of the insurance money to buy an RV and became what are known as "rubber tramps."
For those who don't know, that's a hobo on wheels.
Our RV is our home and we couldn't be happier. My wife and I both make money using our hands our hearts and our heads. Our love for eachother and our faith in God guides us across this beautiful land.
Anyhoo, we would absolutely love to be in Austin for your gathering. We are HUGE fans of Mick and can certainly be there. Please either reply to this message or send me an e-mail. Right now I'm in the little town of Amboy, Washington staying with some old friends for about a week. It's beautiful and green and foggy. I wish you all could hear the coyotes calling right now.
