Message:  Truthfully, it's not so good. As you probably know, there's no cure for Alzheimer's and I think Mom's almost past the point of getting any benefit from meds that slow it down. She can't stand or get up on her own, she's incontinent, she can't remember much of anything, and occasionally asks who we are, and where she's living. (She's in the home Mom and Dad built 44 years ago.) Othertimes, she knows us, but doesn't really remember much. She can't figure out how to work the phone, TV, or even how to move to make herself more comfortable. Sometimes she cries because she knows how confused she is.

The amazing thing is that somehow, she still has a great sense of humor... she can usually follow our humor and get off a few zingers of her own. When I get stuck for what to talk to her about, I get her singing Christmas carols with me... the words to them come back to her when other words won't come.

Dad's got so many ailments, I don't know which to worry about most... probably the advancing asbestosis is the wost. He had a PET scan to check the tumor in his lung, the asbestos in his pleura, scar tissue from the asbestos and the emphasyma.... it didn't show any cancer. So we pray. He is bound and determined to keep Mom at home as long as possible, and I frankly don't know where he's drawing his strength from. Deep faith, I'd say.

They will celebrate there 52nd wedding anniversary on Monday.

Well, I've rambled a lot here, but I thank you profusely for your prayers.
