Message:  I don't think Hank will mind me sharing this...
When I spoke with him tonight,
he said the phone hadn't stopped ringing.
I asked him if he had anybody there,
if he needed company. He said he'd talked
to his father, and that he was okay alone.
My feeling is that he's going to have some
rough days, but that the grieving he experiences
will be softer than this long struggle
he and Barb have shared through her illness.
A while ago, after Barb had gone to Florida,
Hank and I talked about how his life
would change...and he said he'd be able to travel as part of his job. One of the places
his company has offices is in Texas,
and he said he'd likely be making trips there.
If that happens, I have a feeling
he's going to meet with some warm welcomes.
I have faith in this strong, sensitive man.
For all of the sweet sacrifices he's made
to be there for his beloved, he ought to,
with time, find a balm of healing
once he gathers himself and gets out
on the road. He's got some gypsy in his heart,
and a great song he is soon to sing.
Brother I've yet to meet,
I carry your heart in my heart.
