||Owsley and I were going to try for a Grammy with Winter Winds. There is an enrollment process, but they ruled we were disqualified because the vocal tracks were more than 3 years old. The vocals were cut live in March, 1994, and the instrumentation was added the year WW was released. Our brief involvment confirmed for me the political nature of the process; those with promotional budgets, radio play and advertising get the recognition. The Grammys are awards by the industry to itself, like the Academy Awards for movies. Occasionally it seems a truly deserving person gets acknowledged, but that may be as much by accident as design. They should not be taken seriously.
