Message:  Fall is absolutely the most wonderful of the seasons! Craig, there is nothing on earth like the thrill I get from hearing "goose music," and I count it as a blessing whenever I am fortunate enough to be outside when their Vs go over.

When I was teaching at a private high school in the 80s, Elton and I took my entire Advanced Biology class (7 fabulous kids) to the Outer Banks of NC over Christmas break to see the snow geese along the Atlantic Flyway--went to Hatteras and Kitty Hawk too, of course.

BUT, now since we had to leave our KY farm we both loved so much and have moved to Clarksville to this wonderfully warm, but so well-insulated house THAT I CAN'T HEAR THE GEESE GO OVER AND CAN'T EVESN HEAR RAIN ON THE ROOF!!! I have to go up and stand in the attic!

Back at our old thin-walled farmhouse, the temperature was pretty much the same inside as outside, but I will never forget the Christmas Day when I heard the unmistakable rattle of whooping cranes and managed to get outside io\in time to see two pass overhead!!

Didn't mean to run on so long, Annaleah, but you turned on my longings--as October always seems to do.

Love yall,
Sallie and Elton
