Subject:  Black Pearls of Wisdom
Message:  The black pearls of wisdom, the things I’d rather not know.
Is all part of growing up, we are no longer as foolish or bold.
I long for those days of innocence that have passed so long ago.
We look for those simple times, as a child it was nice not to know.

The trusting eyes of the child are now long gone, a hurt from so long ago.
When others are gentle and kind we wonder what they are really after.
Albeit a simple hand of friendship offered, a gift of person as you will
It’s thrown away as if it were nothing, just to put another spin on the wheel.

We learn at an early age of all the mean and hateful things in the world
People get thoughts in their heads and pass judgment on someone else
Where in reality they need to look inside and examine themselves
To open their eyes to both sides now and listen outside their own heads

Do you know what it’s like to be spoken about, have you ever been ignored?
You know how it feels to be treated that way, but why do you do it to others still
We take others for granted, but only talk to those where we may gain
How we long for those days, as a child we would play with everyone…because
they all were our friends…

The black pearls of wisdom, the things I’d rather not know.
Is all part of growing up, we are no longer as foolish …or bold.
I long for those days of innocence that have passed so long ago.
We look for those simple times, as a child we were not nearly as cold.
