Mickey Newbury
Gathering X in ’10

Congratulations Gatherers as we celebrate our 10th year of fellowship in the name of Mickey Newbury. It has been my privilege to have considered Mickey a friend and to have been part of this process to honor his legacy. Thank you all for your individual and cooperative assistance in making this year’s event possible especially my key committee below:

Mamie- Who initiated the effort to hold this year’s Gathering in Houston and made the ultimate sacrifice to get a second opinion so she could feel like dancing.

Sue Ann Zerre- Thank you for taking on the silent auction for the 7th year! And for all your support, I couldn’t, wouldn’t try to do this without you.

Larry Moore- For always doing everything I ask him to help me with, especially initiating the Dosey Doe venue and for drafting Sallie Knox to organize our efforts.

Sallie Knox- Thank you so much for cheerfully and patiently trying to keep track of everything, but then, you worked with LL so you must have had SOME idea how much we needed you. It’s been a pleasure!

Kacey Jones - Sound system, Dosey Doe show, bringing Jonmark, organizing and advising, and taking over when I need her for anything. Kacey, I can always count on you my friend.
C. W. Colt- The impossible job of scheduling all our performers. Wow, what an amazing juggler you are. Thanks for running with the dream...
Barbara and Felix Manion- Who donate their time and much of the food, all the preparation, an invaluable amazing contribution. Please let them know how much we appreciate them!
Ernie Bunch- Honorable Emcee and dear friend.
April- For coming all the way from Japan to keep me focused.
-Susan Williamson-

This being the 10th year it is a pleasure to have everyone participating in not only the Gathering but fulfilling the the dream of Roy Stamps by creating The Mickey Newbury Songwriter's Festival. Roy wished to make the gathering something that would live on and provide a solid foundation that would not only support our event but involve the local community as well.

The purpose of The MNSF will be to provide a venue for songwriters, and bring to the Houston area an outlet for youth that would like to pursue a musical career culminating in a major concert on the the final day of the 7 day festival. The funds generated from this event will provide music arts scholarships in Mickey’s name.

Steve Siad owner of Dosey Doe is more than happy to help get this off the ground by providing the venue and organizational skills that I am sure will ensure that this happens next year.

We are now working on a new format for next year to provide rooms and expenses for performers next year by securing grants, donations and fund raisers. I look forward to seeing everyone and I want to thank you for your efforts for this years gathering. Lets make this the best ever!
-C W Colt-

Congratulations on our 10th anniversary!  I have been involved since 2002 and have loved watching the way the gathering and all the wonderful performers and people that have been brought into our lives. We are truly blessed. We have seen a lot of our loved ones "move on" and they are truly missed.

I am excited about our anniversary and am certainly looking forward to our future gatherings; the Mickey Newbury International Songwriters Festival and Gathering; and  the opportunity to support songwriters and share Mickey's music.

God Bless you Mickey Newbury , Mamie, Susan and all the Newbury family!
-Sue Ann Zerre-

I can't describe what a joy it has already been to have joined this wonderful and C.R.A.Z.Y group of Mickey Newbury Web Site Family, Friends and Fans this year. When I arrived on the scene, I would never have realized how connected I would be to such a warm community of people so quickly.  It is all Larry Larry’s fault!
#8232;Many times I have been humbled by the kindness of your hearts. I’ve witnessed you helping each other through difficult times, and in the sharing of joyous times. Some people judge their lives on what they do, others on who they are. I want my life judged on the friends I keep, and how enriched I am from knowing, sharing and caring for one another ~ through God’s Grace.

I want to thank ALL OF YOU for sending me your registration information. Kudos to Susan Williamson for carrying the leader torch for this Gathering and to Susan and Larry Moore for answering my many questions, since I was a “newbie” who did not have names, faces and prior history on anyone…

Randy McMillan worked tirelessly as he posted every pdf spreadsheet update to the Mickey Newbury Web Site for me as I emailed them to him; and, C. W. Colt worked to pull together our performers and their schedules so “the songs could go on…”

Last, but most important, there would be no 10th Annual Mickey Newbury Gathering without Mickey Newbury; and I thank every family member, friend, and fan who attends this unforgettable gathering.
-Sallie Knox-
A special thanks to the following:
Jonmark Stone, Kacey Jones, and C.W. Colt - sound system
Denise Fussell and Randy Brown- Graphics logo design
Cayce Stamps- Lights, Sound, Stage
Steve Siad- Dosey Doe
All of the entertainers for donating their time and talent
Guesthouse Inn and Suites- The Patel’s for their hospitality and Ballroom

Consideration is requested for the Gathering performers and those who come to hear them
in keeping with a decade of tradition as being a listening room venue.

*In this hybrid workshop, Freebo will explore the creative process, how we are born with pure creative potential,
how we’re gradually put in a non-creative box by family, friends, and society, and how we can reclaim our inner child
and achieve the creative goals of which we’ve so often dreamed.  He will also give you specific tools and hints for your songwriting, song-arrangement, and performing, all within the context of honoring your special gifts and giving yourself permission
and the courage to become the artist/musician you’ve always wanted to be.
