|Subject:||Goodnight - How would you say farewell?|
|Message:||There's been much media chatter these past few days about David Bowie's passing: his song 'Lazarus' seems to be a very deliberate and knowing farewell. I admire his determination not to follow the crowd and his search for privacy in his later years - not unlike someone we all know!
Mickey's rendition of 'Goodnight' on 'Blue To This Day' was, I think, a fabulous farewell: the addition of 'Beautiful Dreamer',the short clip of 'Amen For Old Friends' and especially Mickey saying, "Alright..." between the sections of the song; reassuring, comforting and at ease.
Which song would be your most fitting farewell? I think I'd have my own song, ' Whisper My Name (2)': not a vain choice, I promise; it speaks about my life's loves - Gwyneth (my wife), Mickey and Jesus.
'...Well, the rain just touched the flower in the meadow
But the rain alone won't make the flowers grow...'
