|Subject:||MARRY ANNE.. you still here?|
|Message:||I found this very old post and was wondering what ever happened to Skipper? LL
It’s 6:50 pm (cst) and Suzette and I just got home from our visit with Skipper and his mother Jane. Her husband Tom is flying in today (should all ready be there). We got there around 12:35. If you were like me you would be expecting to arrive at a cold gloomy hospital setting with gloom and doom written on every wall. Instead what we found was a row of Victorian style houses with immaculately kept yards and beautiful flowers and shrubs. Each house was the office of a medical or research foundation. The Our Childrens House where Skipper and his mother was staying was the size of an entire block and beautifully kept. It was cutely decorated, the floor was a river, the nurses desk was a boat with a light house next to it . Everything was bright and cheerful and the staff was very friendly.
Jane was anything but gloom and doom. Mary Anne said that she would lift our spirits as much as or more than we would lift hers...she was right. She is a woman very deep in her love and faith of God. We were “old friends” in a matter of minutes. She gave us a tour of the place when Skipper went for his occupational therapy treatment. She got Suzette a glass of tea and bought me a coke. That’s right she BOUGHT me a coke. Seems I had forgotten my wallet in the car. (O. K.... if all the snide remarks have died down I’ll continue ). We visited for about an hour and a half. We met Skippers roommate, Massey and his mother. Today is Massey’s fifth birthday . Jane said that he (Massey) has a brain tumor and cystic fibrosis. The mother was also a very cheerful person and a strong Christian and that helps each set of parents feed off of each others faith.
Ladies and gentlemen....Skipper........what a beautiful child......OH.... MY..... God! He is a living doll, with those rosy red cheeks and those big blue eyes. He is gorgeous. I know he has a ways to go , but he has come so far.
Jane was very grateful for the letters I brought from you guys. She said to thank each one of you for your continued prayers and support. She says she knows it’s all the prayers that keep them going.
Suzette cut out a little sheep for Skipper and Massey last night and we put a poem I wrote on it and took it with us and gave it to them. The lamb had a little bell tied around its neck with a piece of ribbon holding it. The poem read:
Mary had a little lamb that wore a bell of gold.
Wore it everywhere he went, or so the story's told.
And if that lamb had need of her, the little bell he'd sound.
Then Mary would be by his side; she always was around.
Just like Mary's little lamb you have a golden bell.
To symbolize our prayers for you to keep you safe and well.
Our voices sing out loud and strong to Jesus Christ above,
That when you ring this little bell, He'll cover you with love.
There’s probably more I could tell, except I’m tired and rambling. Maybe later.
Bill, we stopped in Fairfield and ate at Sams. My Lord what a beautiful buffet. I had fried fish , french fries, hush puppies, bar b qued brisket, and sausage small loaf of bread. And for desert.... Bread Pudding (not as good a Mamies) two bowls of it. I must have been to full and hallucinating because while I was eating my pudding I saw out of the corner of my eye what looked like Jerry Newbury on his knees begging for a bite..... oh well.
Bill next Thursday Suzette flys to Colorado for 4 days maybe we could meet there and you could buy my lunch. heh heh.
Continue your prayers for Skipper and for Massey too. Didn’t mean to make this so long, even though I could probably go on and on.
