Subject:  A Mickey Memory
Message:  Hello,

In the early 1990's I had the privilege of meeting Mickey. The phone rang at my friend Kal's home in Palm Springs and wiithin the hour we were heading north towards San Fransisco. Mickey picked up a slot at the Fairmont Hotel and Kal was going to shoot it.

Mickey's manager Owsley met us in the lobby of the hotel and escorted us up to Mickey's room. When I walked in Mickey was sitting on the bed playing a nylon string electric guitar and singing. The sound from the little amplifier grabbed my attention, his words touched my soul. I will never forget that moment, the view of the San Fransisco Bay out the window and the sound of the most incredible song I have ever heard.

Later that evening at the show there wasn't an empty seat in the house. The room dark and the spotlight on you could hear a pin drop over the show. I sat on the camera cases watching and listening. I was blown away.

The following day Mickey, Kal and I piled in my pickup and drove over the Golden Gate Bridge past the Presidio. We stopped at a spot Mickey knew down by the water and just hung around for a while. It was a great day I will never forget.
